Ulysses' Cave

Yaaayyyyy! Finally! a full bg piece!!! For of her OC Ulysses. 


I haven't been so pleased with a piece in such a long time! It took me a wile to get around to finishing this due to lack of focus and frustration with my bad habits. In my previous works i would force my style, or every detail to much. I also had a bad habit of finishing parts of my lines before i finished the sketch. This all would cause me to spend hours on the sketch, making it so much more tedious.

I finally broke away from this..........and something wonderful happened. The magnificent bastard you see in the cave above, was reborn. He still looks like him, and wile i did pay attention to detail, i didn't kill myself with every smigbit. By letting my natural style flow freely, it was so much more fun to and easier to make this.

I've been using a new coloring method too. I used washable crayola markers, and bled them with a clean, wet, paint brush, getting this nice water color effect. Now i did use some black water color on the darkest parts of the BG, but everything else is marker, with some pen touch-ups.  

It took about 11:30 to color. I may update it later since the colors are just a tad off still. 

Edit: I went back and re-scanned it with something weighing down the scanner a bit. Now the image is more clear, and i was better able to adjust the color to look like the physical piece.
